About Riobi
The story behind Riobi
What if data didn’t have to be complex to be powerful? That belief shaped my journey early on, starting with my six years at KBC where I dove deep into the world of data. First as a Data Steward, then as a Product Owner, and later as Product Manager of the commercial Big Data Lake. Along the way, I completed my training as a certified Data Protection Officer, which allowed me to apply GDPR knowledge directly in the field.
What stood out to me the most? How powerful data becomes when you create clarity: when roles are clearly defined, people are actively involved, and a workable structure supports daily operations. That’s what Riobi is built on.
Data governance is about people
Data governance isn’t just about technology. It’s about clear agreements, shared responsibility, and real collaboration. Who does what? Who is allowed to see which data? And how do we ensure that data quality is guaranteed?
I’ve seen firsthand how much more smoothly processes run when roles are clearly defined and everyone knows what’s expected of them.
Every organization is different
After my years at KBC, I joined Cegeka as a consultant to deepen my experience in data governance. One of the most important things I learned? No two organizations have the same needs. Every team, every process, and every data landscape requires a tailored approach.
And yet, every organization needs the same foundation: clear agreements, a clear goal, and people who are part of the story. What do we actually want to achieve with our data? How can data help move our business forward? And how do we make sure it all remains usable in daily operations?
SMEs can make a real difference
Along the way, I became increasingly focused on change management. I also obtained my APMG certifications for Change Management Foundation and Practitioner, so I could support organisations not just on the technical side, but also through the human side of change. (You can find more information about this international certification at APMG International.)
Even the best agreements remain meaningless if people don’t understand what they mean or don’t stand behind them. Building support is key: giving people clarity, involving them, and motivating them to embrace the opportunities data offers.
That’s why I believe data governance isn’t just for large enterprises. SMEs have just as much to gain, provided there’s a clear and workable approach in place. Want to see how data can make a real difference for your SME? Take a look at our Data & SMEs page.
Even with limited data, you can achieve a lot as an SME, as long as you know where to start and your people are part of the story.
Riobi's mission
Riobi helps companies get more out of their data, not through complex models or endless workshops, but by creating a data policy that’s realistic and fits your day-to-day operations and business scale.
Our mission? To make data governance understandable, personal, and actionable, always tailored to your company. We are inspired by international best practices like those of DAMA International, but translate them into a pragmatic and accessible approach that fits the reality of your business. Not just for large enterprises, but just as much for small and medium-sized businesses. Because only when everyone in your company understands what data means, who is responsible for what, and why data quality matters, data can start delivering real value. That’s when reporting, automation, and AI become reliable and truly meaningful.
Even with limited data, you can already create value as a company. Think of better customer insights, clearer reporting, or smarter, more informed decisions. Riobi helps you discover which data is relevant, how to collect, manage, and improve it, and how to put it to use. We show you that data governance and data-driven work are achievable, even with limited resources.
Riobi's Core Values
At Riobi, we work from six core values. No vague principles, just a clear and practical approach you’ll feel throughout the entire process: concrete, committed, and tailored to your business.
Below you’ll find what these core values mean in practice when working with Riobi.
1. Transparency
At Riobi, you get clear language, open communication, and concrete steps. You always know where you stand and why we do what we do. No vague promises or flashy models that lead nowhere. We stand for clear agreements and expectations, so we build trust at every step of the journey.
2. Ownership
Data governance only works when people understand their role and take responsibility. That’s why Riobi ensures employees are actively involved, understand why it matters, and have the right tools and insights to take ownership. That way, support grows from within.
3. Pragmatism
No endless strategy exercises without results. At Riobi, we keep it practical, workable, and achievable. Together we take steps that make a difference today, with an approach tailored to your company’s needs.
4. Data-driven decisions
Data is not the goal itself: it’s a means to make better choices. We help you use data as your compass, so decisions are no longer based on gut feeling but on reliable insights.
5. Collaboration
You don’t do data governance alone. We bring people together, create engagement, and make the conversation around data open and accessible. That’s how we build solutions together that are supported and truly work in practice.
6. Sustainable impactact
We focus on sustainable results that continue to deliver value over time. Riobi works on strategic initiatives with lasting impact, so your organisation can keep growing independently, with data as a reliable driver.
